Josh Gillen is a conductor, educator, drill designer, and music arranger currently based in Georgetown, Kentucky. He received his Bachelor and Master's Degrees from Auburn University, where he studied Saxophone with Dr. Michael Pendowski, conducting with Dr. Rick Good and Dr. Corey Spurlin, and marching arts design with Dr. Corey Spurlin. Mr. Gillen is currently completing his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Wind Band Conducting from the University of Kentucky where he studies applied instrumental conducting with Dr. Cody Birdwell and wind band arranging with Dr. Matt Hightower.
Josh is an avid music arranger and drill writer. Currently, his arrangements and drills are performed by high school and college band across the country, including the University of Kentucky "Wildcat Marching Band" and the Bowling Green State University "Falcon Marching Band". Mr. Gillen writes custom work for each commission and believes that every band, regardless of size or instrumentation, deserves a product that showcases student talent and is personalized to ensure the success of the ensemble.
Josh maintains affiliations with the National Association for Music Educators, including the Alabama Music Educators Association and Georgia Music Educators Association, College band Directors National Association, National Band Association, Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, and Phi Mu Alpha International Music Fraternity.
